(Chanhassen, MN) — A major winter storm is bringing freezing rain, ice and heavy snow to much of Minnesota through Wednesday afternoon. An ice storm warning is posted for far southern Minnesota along the Iowa border, a winter storm warning is issued for most of central and southern Minnesota and there’s a winter weather advisory for north central and west central Minnesota. The National Weather Service is reporting that Pipestone in the southwest already has eight inches of snow. Forecasters are expecting five to ten inches in central Minnesota and the Twin Cities, more than a foot in southwestern Minnesota, and lesser amounts in the Brainerd lakes area and the southeast.
