Waltham Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Accident On Highway 56 In Mower County Thursday Afternoon

A Waltham man was killed in a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 56 and 320th Street in Mower County Thursday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2012 Chevy Silverado being driven by 68-year old David Ray Prouty of Mantoville was southbound on Highway 56 at approximately 2:02 p.m. Thursday afternoon, while a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup being driven by 61-year old Ramon Lee Crews of Waltham was northbound on the highway.  The State Patrol indicated that the two vehicles then collided just south of the intersection of Highway 56 and 320th Street near Waltham.

Crews was killed in the accident, while Prouty suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.  The State Patrol reported that both parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Hayfield Fire and Ambulance and MnDOT all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Thursday afternoon.
