Update on Body Found

Follow up on Death Investigation. Thursday September 19, 2019

On Tuesday September 17, 2019 an autopsy was performed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner on the remains that had been recovered from the location between Fountain Lake and Albert Lea Lake. At that time it was determined that there was an absence of trauma to the remains indicating a lack of foul play.

Also on Tuesday September 17th with the assistance of the Albert Lea Fire Department and the Iowa Underwater Search and Rescue Team vital evidence was recovered from the area that aided in the positive identification of the remains found. The remains have been positively identified by the Ramsey County Medical examiner as those of Nicholas Richard Ramirez age 21. The death has been ruled as probable fresh water drowning.

Ramirez was last seen on 6/29/2019 and was listed as a missing person. The Albert Lea Police Department extends our deepest sympathies to the Ramirez family.
