Six vehicles break through ice on Lake Pepin

(Lake City, MN) — The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is urging extra caution after six vehicles crashed through the ice on Lake Pepin late Saturday morning. The pickups and S-U-Vs were all parked in the same area near Methodist Beach. They were close enough to shore to be pulled out of the water. Deputies say no one was hurt. The Minnesota D-N-R recommends at least eight to 12 inches of ice for vehicle traffic. Cooler temperatures are expected next weekend.
