North Mankato man arrested for impersonating and assaulting officer
(North Mankato, MN) — A North Mankato man is in custody for impersonating and assaulting a police officer. Around 2:40 Saturday morning, a man went to North Mankato Police Department saying another man had pointed a gun at him and flashed red and blue lights from his vehicle. Officers found the suspect, 26-year-old Corey Spiess sitting in his vehicle. When asked to step out of the car, Spiess refused and attempted to enter his home. Police used tasers to subdue him and there was a physical struggle where Spiess kicked an officer. Spiess continued to resist, hitting his head on the ground, resulting in a hospital visit before county jail. Officers say they found a replica firearm and suspected meth, a red/blue light bar, and a toy badge inside Spiess’s car.
