A Montgomery man was injured in a two-vehicle accident involving an Austin teen on Interstate 35 in Rice County Thursday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2002 Jeep Liberty being driven by 58-year old Jamie Michael Stonehouse of Montgomery was in the median near milepost 72 on southbound Interstate 35 and partially blocking one of the traffic lanes at approximately 7:05 p.m. Thursday evening when his vehicle was struck by a southbound 2005 Pontiac Bonneville being driven by 17-year old Ethan Knox of Austin.

Stonehouse sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and he was transported to Northfield Hospital for treatment, while Knox was uninjured.  The State Patrol indicated that the road was covered in snow and ice at the time of the accident, and they added that both parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office and North Ambulance both assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Thursday evening.
