Klobuchar Goes After Ticketmaster Over Taylor Swift Ticket Debacle

(Washington, DC) — In the wake of Taylor Swift concert tour ticketing problems, Senator Amy Klobuchar writes Ticketmaster’s president and C-E-O that she has “serious concerns about the state of competition in the ticketing industry and its harmful impact on consumers.” It comes after Swift’s fans complained online that problems with Ticketmaster’s website impeded their ability to buy tickets to her upcoming tour – Swift’s first in about five years. Klobuchar, who chairs a Senate subcommittee that oversees competition and anti-trust regulations, says reports of situations violating the consent decree Ticketmaster is under suggest that it “continues to abuse its market positions.” Ticketmaster said while it expected strong demand for Swift’s tour, nearly three-point-five billion requests more than quadrupled its site’s previous peak.
