Goodhue County Sheriff’s Deputy Cleared in Red Wing Shooting

(Red Wing, MN) — A Goodhue County sheriff’s deputy will not face any charges for the shooting of an alleged assault suspect in November. The Stearns County Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and determined that Investigator Steve Sutton-Brown was justified in using deadly force against Fernando Carbajal. The B-C-A reported that Carbajal and Sutton-Brown got into a struggle after a car crash and the deputy ended up shooting Carbajal. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Sutton-Brown has been cleared to return to full duty.
