Fairmont hit-and-run leaves man critically injured, police searching for driver & vehicle
Fairmont Police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run that left a 70-year-old man in critical condition.
The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday in the area of Downtown Plaza and 3rd St. Police initially responded to a report of a person sleeping in the roadway, but determined the person was actually a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
Evidence left at the scene indicates the vehicle involved has front-end damage and is likely missing a windshield wiper. Anyone with information should contact Fairmont Police at (507) 238-4481.
The victim was transported to Mayo Clinic Fairmont, then flown to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he was listed in critical condition. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
