Emergency Food Shelf Funding Bill Passes House Committee

(St. Paul, MN) — A bill providing five million dollars in emergency funding for the state’s food shelves is moving forward in the Minnesota House. It heads to the House Ways and Means committee after passing Children and Families Finance Tuesday. Representative Dave Pinto of St. Paul says, “a historic budget surplus provides us with a historic opportunity to act immediately to help thousands of Minnesotans struggling with food insecurity.” The measure would provide one-time funding to help fill programming gaps and address rising food costs.
