Bulldogs sweep Belmond Klemme 3-0 in Volleyball, Now 2-0 on the season
(Story by LM Head Coach Jim Boehmer)
Lake Mills over Belmond Klemme 3-0
25-16, 25-19, 25-11
Karli Helgeson 31 assist
Karli had another solid night in her role running our offense. She continue to work hard and learn the game the way we want it played. I am very proud of her willingness to work and focus on improving. It’s been a big bright spot for me as a coach.
Dottie Byars 8
Ellie Hannah 18
Ella Stene 9
Ava Moen 5
As a team we hit very well. Ellie and Ella both hit over .400 tonight and that’s a big number. We continue to focus on our efficiency in the front row and as we do that w should continue to grow offensively. We need to be sure we are all available to get good swings. You can never take a play off or fail to be in position to get good swings. That’s a constant focus and has been improving for us.
Hanna 14-15, 2 aces
Helgeson 3 aces
Taylor Vanek 2 aces
Horrible serving night. We missed 11 serves as a team. That has to improve. Volleyball is a unique sport with a net. Every time you make a mistake your opponent scores. We gave our opponent 11 free points. Nearly 1 in 4 points score by BK tonight was out missed serve. We will be better. We just need to get back to work and do what we know we can at the serving line.
Finley Rogstad 3
We turned a lot of block into the court. We ended the match on a great block by Ava Moen. This is a strength of her game.
Natalie Brandenburg 7
Brynn Rognes 5
Out serve-receive game was inconsistent. We have to work together better in our pattern. That’s been a focus so we know we can be better there.
Lake Mills 2-0 overall and in the TIC West
At home Thursday vs Bishop Garrigan. Not sure we are a favorite but I am glad we are at home at least.
Saturday we travel to the Algona Tournament and will see 5 3A teams. We will be the only 2A team in the field. The rest of the week is going to be tough but we knew that going in.
