Alcohol a factor in fatal crash that closed Crosstown Highway for most of morning rush hour

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a fatal crash that closed a portion of Crosstown Highway 62 near MSP airport for much of the morning rush hour (Mon).  A pickup towing a trailer went into a ditch and struck a concrete bridge pillar.  Investigators say the driver, a 34-year-old man from Texas had been drinking.  He had life-threatening injuries and a 21-year-old passenger, a man from Colorado, died in the crash.  And a fire truck attempting to turn around hit a state trooper’s vehicle, but no firefighters were injured.
