Albert Lea Softball Drops DH to Winona, travel to Faribault on Tuesday
The Albert Lea Softball team kicked off the season Saturday hosting Winona for a double header. Tigers last season took 10th in the Big Nine, with a 3-12 record, Winhawks finished 2nd in the Conference, 14-3, behind conference champion Northfield

Winona jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a half inning and went on to a 10-2 win, Winhawks with 9 hits, Tigers with 3 (Kristina Espinosa, Phoebe Holst, and Jaira Maligaya) Holst with the loss in game pitching all 7 innings, allowing 8 earned runs, 9 hits, Walked 4 and struck out 5
Game 2
Winona got off to another quick start, leading 8-0 after a half inning and took game 2 13-1 in 5 innings; Winhawks with 13 hits, Albert Lea with 2 (Madelyn Balfe and Kristina Espinosa). Michelle Leeman suffered the loss on the mound for Albert Lea pitching the first 3 innings, Myah Talamantes pitched the last 2.
