Albert Lea man sentenced to prison time on felony criminal sexual conduct charge in Mower County District Court

An Albert Lea man who sexually abused a child while living in Austin from 2015 to 2018 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

54-year old Jeffrey Mitchell Weir was convicted and sentenced Friday to 130 months, or 10 years and 10 months in prison after an amended guilty plea on March 7th of this year to a felony count of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, significant relationship, victim under the age of 16, multiple acts.  Judge Jeffrey Kritzer ordered that in addition to the prison sentence, Weir will serve a conditional release period of up to 10 years upon his release from prison, and Weir also received credit for 101 days already served in jail.

Weir was also initially charged in April of 2015 with two felony counts of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, contact with a person under the age of 13, actor more than 36 months older.  Weir pleaded guilty to the two felony 1st degree criminal sexual conduct charges on June 17th, 2022, then changed his plea to not guilty on October 6th of last year before pleading guilty to the felony 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct charge on March 7th.

Weir initially pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him on April 8th, 2019.
