Albert Lea Hockey teams fall to Northfield

In Boys Hockey

-6th ranked Northfield 3, 19th ranked Albert Lea 0

Kamden Kaiser scored his 24th goal of the season to put Northfield up 1-0 in the first,  Score would stay that way until the 3rd period when Northfield would add 2 more goals, one by Brayden Olsen and the other by Will Cashin. Raiders out shot Albert Lea 39-21.  With the loss Albert Lea falls to 5-3 in the Big Nine, 12-5 overall. Northfield improves to 8-2 in the Big Nine and 13-4 overall.  Tigers host Faribault on Saturday at 6:15

 

In Girls Hockey

-17th ranked (AA) Northfield 4, 14th ranked (A) Albert Lea 1

Northfield struck first in the first period on the power play with a goal by Emerson Garlie (22nd of the season). Tigers would tie things up at 1 in the first, with a goal by Aryah Hansen (5th of the season)  In the 2nd period Albert Lea took 6 penalties and Northfield would hold Albert Lea to no shots on the goal in the period, while scoring two power play goals.  Ayla Puppe with her first of 2 goals in the game put Northfield up 2-1,  and Mia Miller would make it 3-1 after 2.  Puppe would add one more in the 3rd to make it 4-1.  Puppe set the Northfield school record for the most points in a career in Girl’s Hockey with 192.  The Junior has 39 goals and 27 assist this season. Albert Lea falls to 8-3 in the Big Nine, 12-6-1 overall. Tigers host Fairmont on Saturday at 2:15
