Albert Lea Baseball upsets Marshall in the opening round of Section Tournament

Albert Lea took advantage of 5 Marshall errors, as Albert Lea won the battle of the Tigers 4-2 at Legion Field in Marshall.  Albert Lea would score 1 in the 3rd, and then 3 unearned runs in the 5th to go up 4-0.  Marshall would score 2 in the bottom of 7th and bring the tying run to the plate, but a ground out with a great tag by first basemen Ben Kuiters ended the game.

Carter Miller got the win going 6 plus innings, giving up 2 unearned runs, striking out 4, Jacob Skinness came in, in the 7th to get the save.

Brennan Bakken went 3 for 4 with a run scored. Ben Kuiters and Dakota Jahnke each with 2 hits.

Albert Lea is now 8-10 on the season, Tigers will face the 2nd seed Mankato East in the winner’s bracket semifinals on Saturday at 11 in New Ulm, All the action on KATE.
