9 People Rescued From Lake Pepin in Southeastern Minnesota

(Lake City, MN) — Nine people are okay after being rescued from Lake Pepin in southeastern Minnesota while ice fishing Sunday evening. The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says six adults and three children got stranded on a sheet of ice on the natural occurring lake along the Mississippi River. Deputies say airboats were used to transport them safely to shore and no one was injured. Officials went back out Monday to retrieved a snowmobile, A-T-Vs and fishing gear left on the ice sheet. Sheriff’s officers say this incident is a reminder that ice conditions are dangerous on Lake Pepin.
